ARCH 1201: PROJECT 2: ROOM AND NARRATIVE

My chosen painting is by Pieter De Hooch and portrays people enjoying a game of cards while people go about their everyday lives in the courtyard outside. There are an inter-connecting rooms through a transitional space.
The bright light that beams in through the large window beside the card table and the large door that takes you to the outside courtyard.
The cardplayers are on the right of the painting, giving the viewer an appreciation of the entire room, including the broken pipe, matches and cards that are on the floor. It seems to be early afternoon with each person enjoying the card game in the entertainment. The minimal decor depicts that the room is for leisure and socialising.
